Default why have stand alone fuel management?

ok, first off, i'm a noob jsut trying to learn as much as i can!

i've heard of people using standalone fuel management systems and was jsut wondering what this incorporates and why its used. also is it the same thing as a Piggyback Engine Management System?

A standalone is where you replace/modify the stock ecu.. A piggyback system is where you modify the signals going into/out of the stock ecu to adjust things..

When you modify your engine then you need to retune it since the orginal tuning is no longer valid.. And you have to have some way to modify the stock tuning, either a standalone or piggyback or something like that..

Depends on what ecu your using.. If your using hondata or uberdata then you need to burn chips..

Im using the AEM EMS and its all real time live tuning with no chip burning needed..
