ok...i assume its not normal to have water in there like that?

also, i'm not 100% knowledgeable...but there is a small area around the entire set of pistons. it has collant in it. i assume that has to be there but not actualy on the pistons themselves?

we are changing the head gasket btw ::D

yea we got the water off the pistons. but there is like a thin empty area between the outter shell and the inner section holding the pistons. this area has coolant in it still. is that supposed to be there? to keep the pistons cooled maybe?

also, is there a screw or anything you can take oput to drain the coolant out of that section?

Yeah the coolant is suppose to surround the pistons. Its an open deck block.

Yes that little area around the pistons is the water jacket. It is supposed to have coolant flowing through it to cool the pistons and sleeves. There should be a big bolt on the front of the block. Remove that and the coolant should drain right out.

You didn't have that much water in the car when it was running, when you took the head off it all leaked in there and ****. Yeah your headgakset was blown, but it wasn't that bad. if it was, you'd have a little bit more problems than a blown headgasket.

You should take the time to do a MPFI swap right now too.

btw, i like the red block.

You should of drained the coolant out of the block with the plug in the block, before removing the head. That way it wouldn't of all leaked in there when you loosen up the head.

Check in this FAQ thread. I browsed through it and saw several MPFI conversion links. Just gotta read through it, it's a lot of material.
