P420
I live in Los Angeles. I got p420 on a 2001 gsr. OI cannot afford the Dealer cat. Should I buy one from Junk yard on line from another state(cuz cheaper) or I have to buy it in Calfornia because of the California smog check is different from other states. Thanks
By reading your post, I assume you are telling us your cat is bad, correct?
And since your car is an 01, the miles aren't too high, correct?
If so, the cat (at least the part cost) should be replaced free of charge I do believe, by Acura.
This is because all cats have to last a certain amount of time/miles. I think it's 80,000 miles, but I can't remeber.
Actually after a minute or two of searching, I found this:
All converters come with a federally mandated warranty. This warranty states that the converter shell and pipes are warranted for 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and that the catalytic converter was designed and manufactured to meet State and Federal emission reduction requirements, and when the vehicle's properly maintained, the catalytic converter is warranted to meet such requirements for 25,000 miles from the time of installation. Catalytic converters listed on this site have been tested according to the procedures in the Federal Register, Volume 51, No. 150, Tuesday August 5, 1986 and have met the performance criteria specified.

That info was taken from that site.
But Acura might warranty them longer. Give Acura a call. Maybe your teg doesn't even have 50k miles on it, in which case you'de be OK
