Cosmetic/Rubbing Question on Tire Width and Hatch
Hey,
OK, so I've got 15'' Rota's (+40mm offset) that need some new tires. I'm dropped on H&R sports (1.8''Front, 1.6''Rear). I'm afraid I'm going to rub with 205/50/15 all around so I was thinking of going 195/50/15 up front and 205/50/15 in the rear. My reason for this is purely cosmetic, I like a bigger tire in the back.
How would this affect handling? Do you think I would rub? Can I get away with 205's all around?

he means you dont have a very low drop on your car to worry about the tires rubbing, i had 205's on an 95 teg with a 2.25 drop and never had any trouble

You guys have to be more specific with your advice. What was the offset of your wheels, did you rub with passengers. etc...

I'm lowered about 2.25"-2.5" and run 205/40/16 and they never rub. I don't know offset, but they cannot be more than 40 on my old Konigs. A 205/50/15 is just a little bit taller, but your high offset rims & higher ride height should be able handle those tires just fine. I wouldn't run less than a 205 all around on my car. It looks & handles so much nicer. Handleing won't be as good with 195s in the front. You have to remember that on a FWD the fronts do all the work, and the rears are just along for the ride. Plus you will want to be able to rotate those tires as they wear down, so your not always replacing the fronts. Besides, I think the rears would rub before the fronts if all 4 tires were the same...
I don't think i've ever seen a FWD with bigger tires in the back before.
