Default comp cams street cam vs ctr cams

i was looking at the specs of botch the ctr and comp cams street cam. i was wondering if you think i could run stock itr valve train on there street cam. heres the specs of the ctr's and comps and skunk2s stage 1.
Company Description Dur Int/Dur Exh Dur Int/Dur Ehx@0.50 Lift Int/Lift Ehx Part #
Skunk 2 Stage 1 252/249@1mm 0.456/0.426
Honda Civic Type R 278/280 233/224 0.449/0.417
Comp Street 282/286 240/240 0.490/0.447

i got the specs from a site that i found on here from searching, and when i tryed just looking up comp cams i didnt find what i wanted to know. so what do you guys think, please let me know. if i end up getting them i will do a dyno chart on my b16 with the stock b16 cams and the comp cams. just want to know if i can run the comps on itr valve train. if anyone has any thing to say about comp cams or have them please post it up thanks

The BIG problem with Comp Cams is that in the import world, they are a no-name cam. Nobosy uses them. So they have no reputation whatsoever. If you use them, consider it to be a science experiment of sorts. They may work VERY well. Or they could suck. The CTR cams are tried-and-true. But gains are likely to be ALOT less than what you COULD POSSIBLY get from something like the Comp Cams.

ya i noticed the lift is bigger then skunks stage 1 but it also has a smaller duration then the skunks so there for they would not be open as long, or could this still cause the springs to bind. im checking on a price today i think i might try them depending on the price it might be worth it.

doesnt have to do with duration...has to do with lift...your stock springs wont take much over 11.5mm of lift before they bind....

whats a decent price? and did that price for the springs include the cost of retainers?

here is a spring AND aluminum retainer combo for $235 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33621

or you can get what i personaly run for $275 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33621

either is overkill for you

You get what you pay for...

I would run Comp Cams... They have been making camshafts for the V8 world for years. They seem like a reputable company to me.

Comp Cams Quiktyme Stage 1 are a VERY good street cam. I have dynos of them versus stock B16A cams with I/H/E. They produced a steady horsepower increase across the power band starting at about 3HP over stock all the way to 12HP over stock on the top end. Torque was even better. With a constant 6-7 horsepower increase above the B16A cams. No dips!

There are plenty of people that have dynos of stock B16A versus CTR cams. So you can see from those compared to what I posted above how they perform in a match-up.
