Default Who is using Toluene in here?? Experiences??

I have heard mostly good things about it's effectiveness.

I am looking at this purely from a cost stand point.

100 octane at the pump here is $5.15 a gallon.

$5.15x 10 gallons= $51.50 a tank

2 gallons of Toluene @ $5 a gallon= $10
8 gallons of 91 octane @ $2.25 a gallon= $18
Final Octane Rating= 96 Total Cost= $28

Plus I have heard 100 octane at the pump when broken down and tested is actually closer to 95-97 octane rating.

Anyway that is my line of thinking- What do you all think???

I did some research on the stuff, and I found out that after a while it can start to eat up valve seals and what not... So I never gave it a shot.

I've used it a lot for forced induction cars locally.

We used 1 gal tolulene / 3 gal Shell 93. Immediately after filling the tank, we beat the **** out of the car and did lots of hard cornering in an attempt to mix up the fuels in the gas tank. Ideally, you'd want to mix before filling but ideally I'd just buy 100 octane for a reasonable price.

Hope that helps.

Hmmm. 100 octane is already 17-25% toluene depending on the company.

What if I added a quart of two cycle oil or Marvel mystery oil to prevent damage to the valve seals.

Again from a cost perspective- If valve seals are the only problem. It would still be cheaper to replace those annually then to fill up @ $5+ a gallon for a whole year.

i personally have used xylene with my past cars. it was fine on my rubber parts. the longest i have ran straight 25% with some marvel mistery oil was about a year.l i used that marvel for lubricating the xylene, as many suggest to do.
