Default ATS first gear

What do you guys think about swapping the ATS first gear into a GSR. ATS's first gear is a 3.077 and the stock is a 3.23. I did some caclulations and if I get the ATS first the landing point for 2nd gear would be increased from 4800 to 5000.

I got the ATS first mainly because of my JDM final drive...but I would highly recommend it to anybody simply because I feel the 1st gear is too short for the Integras......

Any mild power upgrade would benefit from this mod....particularly the GS-Rs with the taller 2nd...

which I intend to put back into my ITR tranny to compliment my ATS 1st and 4.785

Does the JDM FD require ATS's first?

With the stock first gear the landing point in 2nd is 4800 and the top speed is 40. With the ATS first gear the landing point is raised to 5000 but the top speed in first is increased to 42mph. As long as you are getting traction, I think its better to stay with the stock first, since it is shorter.

The JDM final does not require the ATS first...however, it does require a new OEM 1st gear which comes with the kit if you purchased the entire assembly new.

Although having a shorter first gear may be beneficial, I didn't feel that was the case, particularly after installing the 4.785 final. 1st became too short..... revved out so quickly that I was either losing traction (on the street) or close to bouncing off the rev limiter (at the strip).

It's unfortunate that the 2.9xx is no longer available from ATS. Truly, with the "big bore" Bseries today, they would benefit from better gearing all around....not just first......
