Maybe a timing problem? Double check it just in case. Otherwise the distributor itself might be faulty.....

bump for other ideas

As he said check the timing both cam and ignition. Also have you replaced your fuel filter?

check your codes, then check grounds(by thermostat housing) sounds like a problem i had once too. take off distributor cap and rotor and also the little black dust cap you'll see three tower wires toward the firewall side make sure these are connected and clean. good luck

Are you throwing any codes? Hows your idle? Could be TPS, could be dizzy. Did you have to rewire for MPFI or were u using an Si harness? - Darrell

i had that same problem when i did my zc swap. I loosened the three bolts that hold the distributor on and adjusted it, forward and backwards untill the engine ran good at low rpms. Once that was fixed low rpms were great

What parts did you buy for a JDM ZC? Did you just buy a distributor for an 89 Integra?

i agree with the first responces.. it sounds like a timing problem.
Since it revs up that rules out the ignitor being bad. (usually kills anything above 3k)

If you need a distributor.... I have a friend with a ZC motor that the timing slipped and bent the valves. I think he will consider parting it out and most likely junk the civic.

If you are interested..... let me know
