How long will a water pump hold on?
I've got a 94 RS that has a water pump that has been leaking for some time now. I didn't know enough about the integra when I bought it three years ago to have it replaced with the timing belt. I make sure that there is enough coolant in the tank every couple of days. I'm just curious how long do I have? What happens when the pump goes out? Thanks
Replace it as soon as possible. If the water pump goes out on you while you're driving, you'll know it real quickly. Watch your temp. needle bury itself in the "hot" side. Just get it fixed ASAP.
Which ever shop that did you timing belt install should have automatically told you that you need to replace your water pump too. Now you're going to have to pay for nearly exactly the same labor charges again since it the water pump is nearly as involved as the timing belt.
I was a lagger and didnt change my timing belt and water pump till about 110k miles. Inspected the water pump and it was still funtional but wasnt spinning as smoothly as it should have. Oh yeah now would be a good time to replace the thermostat too. Do I hear a spoon thermostat upgrade? hehe...

How exactly do you tell if the water pump is good or not? One of my friends told me that if you spin the pulley, it should stop spinning immediately. He said if it continues to spin at all it's bad. Is this true?
