Default Vtec Help: jdm b16a2 in 92 RS

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...hotos

Please check out the setup , i got 2 pics ,

1 of the ecu setup, u can see those 2 wires from the engine bay where the vtec was tapped..

Starting from down to up, the plugs are a-b-c rite?..

Does anyone know which PLug and pin the VTEC activation is in? i thought it was c6?

your request is a little confusing, but OBD1 ecu pinouts can be found here:

I thought i ficed the problem but no luck

went to go run my car and results

cold engine- rev limit at 7.2k
no vtec

warm engine- bogged at 4.5k and 5k and rev limit at 7.2
no vtec

My ecu is a custom p28
2 step launch- hold the clutch press gas and should only go to 4.5k
redlien at 8.5 k
vtec at 5k

Im gonna try rewiring my whole vtec setup.. and if that doesnt work its got to be the vtec solenoid, thank god my brothers got a extra laying area..

Ill keep u updated..

redline at 7200rpm eh? that sounds like a stock P28 redline. I wonder if your ecu is really chipped or not...

are you getting any check engine lights at all? if so, what mil codes are blinking on your dash?

i finished rewiring it.. and i hit vtec

warm/cold engine- VTEC worked.. reset ecu after working on her and no check engine light..

warmer engine around the half way point area- wouldnt let me go passed 4.5k

I remember the first time i tried fixing her i put in a 1.6 fuel filter from my bros 88 hb with d16z6.. Im gionna put the 1.8 LS one back in.. * if i makes a difference???? *

i checked the wiries and i dont have a Knock sensor wire, ill try that 2.. thanks katman for the diagram.. it really helped..

Anyone know where my knock sensor is? jdm b16a2

ill try those 2 things, but if no luck ill try swapping to jdm 00 Itr injectors, just in case mine are fucked.

at least i know my VTEC solenoid isnt fucked i guess..

you're welcome

The fuel filter won't make any noticeable difference, if you're using brand new/clean units.

The knock sensor on all DOHC VTEC engines can be found here:

(its a single wire sensor btw)

what injectors are you using?

I got her working yesterday..

Heres the issue though

When Cold- 4.5k redline no vtec
warm But not touching the line- 7.2k redline No vtec
Passed the Line- 8.5k Redline YES VTEC

this thing is really wierding me out

Ill wire the Knock sensor today when i do my suspension..

for some reason when im " Passed the line " it will bogg at 4.5 then just jump to VTEC all the way to 8.5.. GRR

If you didn't know, your engine has to be running at normal tempertures in order for VTEC to kick on. By default, the ecu has this cold start/safe mode, and if it detects the the car isn't warmed up yet....VTEC doesn't kick on and there's an early redline of 7500rpm. Once warmed up, VTEC kicks on and your redline is where it should be.

Your car bogs when VTEC kicks on, eh? Does it kick on before 5000rpm? if so, that's your problem...its kicking on too early and thats the result, boggyness. If you raise VTEC to 5500rpm you'll match the factory VTEC crossover point that a B16A/P30 ecu is set to.

Wise one * bows to u * lol

thanks.. really appreciate it..

well maybe i dont have to wire my knock sensor? or should i still?
yeah my Vtec comes on around 4.8-5k

For some reason even when im driving around town at nite.. it takes my CAR A long as time to warm up passed the line, Sometimes it wouldnt even pass the line.. Scares me.. But i always check my fluids and its always good..

should i check the connection on my jdm gauge cluster?

the ecu has no knock support, you don't need to wire it.

nah you dont have to wire in the KS, it'll be pointless because as already mentioned, there's no KS support on P28 ecu's.

wtf? 4500rpm redline in 1-2nd...then 8500redline in 3rd? makes no sense....you getting any check engine lights?

you're cam & crank timing correct? does the engine bog when you get on the throttle?

Old thing last nite, Its gotta be my wiring on my JDM gauge cluster.. Cause it said it was warm... But it wasnt.. and when i tried punching it.. 1-4th gears i couldnt pass 4.5k * WTF *

But later that nite when she was really warm, i was reaching 8.5k in everything gear.. i was kinda tipsy so i cant remember if VTEC was working or not LOL

Knock sensor is out of the question.. hmmmm all i can think is newer injectors???.. is the 00 JDM ITR injectors and straight swap?.. maybe im not getting enough Fuel ?

No check engine Lights either
