Default Power Steering problems/issues

Is it normal for the boot ends to go bad causing it to leak fluid and become contaminated?

As you can see the fluid has become contaminated...

Apparently, Part #3 is the clip that suppose to be holding the boot still and stretch.... which in my case isn't happening

this happened to me too... it got contaminated enough that i needed to replace the entire rack. unfortunately i was out of town at the time so i had to take it to a shop to get it done, they overcharged me and then it started leaking a few weeks later (DONT GOTO TIRES PLUS IN MIAMI! ) i ended up just converting to manual steering.

I wanted to convert as well, just seems like it would have save the hassle. Only thing is, it's a real bi getting it out when you actually have the engine and shi in the car, at least that's what I imagine. I pulled it from my old GSR and it was a pain getting under the dash (with it already removed) to fiddle with it, even with the engine out. Never again-- I'm lying, I'll do it again soon and I'll hate that too.
