Default Why would I want to swap the final drive if total speed is lower per gear????

After looking at this site:
http://racingcraft.com/ats-gear-ratio-comparison.shtml

It shows the differences in speed using different final drives and gears. It looks like the best speed is coming from the US Type-R tranny.

Adding the FD and gears shows a lower MPH. Why is that?

Or am I reading it all wrong?

I know a few guys that have the ATS FD and swear that it's the best thing since sliced bread. I don't doubt that, but the graph above is confusing me.

Please explain........

You mean topspeed, the ATS is used for quicker accelerating, about 10% better, so with that quicker acceleration you topspeed will lower, as will your topspeed in every gear

Adding a ATS FD will lower your overall top speed in each of the gears. You will basically accelerate faster but have a lower top speed.

I would rather accelerate to 60mph faster than having a 150mph top speed. Top speed mean nothing unless you can get there. Just ask yourself, how often you go past 130mph or do you need to go up to 130mph at all?

D00d, you gotta' drive or ride in a ITR with a higher FD..... I guarantee you will notice the difference! I rode in yeah ls' kaa w/ the 4.785 FD at the ITR Expo and I was really impressed. I could tell the diff in acceleration from my stock R with the USDM FD, and that was just from the pass. seat! I can only imagine what it feels like with a higher FD like the ATS 4.929! Awesome!

Made a believer outta' me....screw higher topspeed! Best thing since sliced bread!

That makes sense.

Kinda like the old school ford guys that put taller gears in their cars to get off the line faster but top speed is lower.

I see clearly now.

Hey Kenny, I need to go for a ride, and I'll bring the bread.
