F22b1 in 4th gen? Should I swap for my A6?
Ok so I have a 92 EX with the F22A6. This dude wants to sell me a F22B1 for like $200 with ecu. He has changed the timing belt and water pump about 20k ago (147k now). My A6 needs a new timing belt, water pump, etc. I have 168k on my A6.
Should I buy his engine and swap it in? Or just fix mine? How hard is the VTEC wiring and exhaust?
TIA

the tbelt and water pump will cost more then what you paid for the f22b1 but make sure hes got receipt or service record on the tbelt and pump.
single cam vtec is so insignificant that its almost not worth it but if the f22b1 has alot lower miles then id do it.
i would personally slap the f22a6 head with the dual runners on the f22b1 block and then boost it junkyard style..

i'll buy the engine if you don't!
i blew my f22a6, through a rod, and prices to rebuild were upwards of $700. If I can find an engine for $200, thats in that kind of good condition, i'll buy it right now.

your getting a little bit more power, less mileage engine, and its cheaper than the maintence your A6 needs....i think thats enough said.....now just save up some money, and boost it....is the b1 obd1 or 2?
