d16z6 cam in a y8 head? Yes i searched
Kind of a noob question, but anyway.....
I bought a rebuild d16z6 head awhile back. And recently i got a good deal on a complete y8 engine. The problem is that a bought a cam for the z6 already
, but i dont have a dizzy for it. I want to used the complete y8 becuase i have a d15b dizzy that will bolt on.
Can i used the aftermarket z6 cam in the y8? Is it a good idea? I am pretty sure it will bolt on, but i just want to know if there is enough space in the head or and other problems. thanks

If you had searched the archives you would have found your answer...
Yes, you can do it. You will have to have an adjustable cam gear to get the timing right though. There is a 3-5 degree difference it the cam profile between the two cams. I have a Skunk2 cam for a Z6 in my Y8.

They are off by 4.75 degrees. Z6 and Y8 use differently keyed cam gears. Z6 keyway lines up with TDC, while the Y8 keyway is offset 4.75 degrees from TDC.
So you probably want an adjustable cam gear.
