car dies out and afterwards, car has a hard time starting
just did my swap recently, GSR motor into a 1993 civic hatchback
well it ran fine for about 2 weeks
but recently, before i go to work, i start my car and let it warm up, and while its running, the car just suddenly dies. Note that i didn't press on the gas, brake, or clutch.
after i try to start it, it turns over, and turns for a long time before it fires up, but it does fire up eventually.
anyone know what the problem could be?? should i change my distributor.
help is needed
thanks

sounds like secondary ignition (coil, cap, rotor, wires, plugs). check all of these parts using a dmm on what you can and check everything else visually. if you have a chance, set it on a scope. how does the car run once you get it started after it takes a while of cranking? does it run afterwards?
there's another common problem and that is pgmfi relay, but most of the time i've experienced these being hard to start initially, not firing up then stalling.
you have something expanding (because of the warm up) then its hard to start, then it cools down enough to re-start, then you have to say if it keeps stalling or if it runs fine afterwards

thanks for the reply
once the car starts (after minutes of cranking it), it finally comes to lifeand it seems fine,
the only time i have this problem is when the car sits for 6+ hours and i start it to let it warm up before i head off to work
im going to try switching off the distributor and cross my fingers that it wont happen,
its only happened when i used my friends distributor, i had to change the distributor because my old one had oil all inside the cap, so maybe my friends distributor is messed up.

if it happend after you put your friends dist. on then thats probably the problem. it could still be a pgmfi relay or a tired fuel pump
