Is it safe to take top heat shield off?
I searched around and did not find much ... My exhaust rattles bad at 3-3.5rpm ... i have a high flow cat header and catback... i belive the rattle is coming from the heat shield above the high flow cat .. some peolpe tell me not to take it off because something could get on fire under there ... I really dont think something would unless some paper got under there and stayed there for a while.... anyone ever take there heat shield off on the top of the cat befor is it safe and easy to get off? just some bolts right ?

its safe IMO, and bolts on and off. I've never heard otherwise, and heatshields do annoy me when they get loud. Only thing is the area above it could get pretty warm.....

Very few aftermarket headers have heatshields, for better or worse. Your car will run a little warmer with that radiated heat hitting the radiator, but probably not enough to notice. Most racers use headers with no heat shield or heat wrap.
Also, you will NOT hear a difference, it will not be louder. Ha!

Well, the ugly one on the exhaust manifold keeps engine bay temps down, which in turn means more power. YMMV.
