So today I hit this pothole and my speedometer and odometer stopped working, and my check engine light came on. My tach, gas and temp gauges work fine however. I'm assuming the check engine light came on for whatever reason the gauges aren't working. They stopped working and the check engine light came on simultaneously. Maybe something came out or unplugged? Where can I check for this?

Also, just drove my car again and the check engine light didn't come on until I stopped. I turned the car off, then started it back up, no check engine light.

it could be throwing vehicle speed sensor code. that will cause the check engine light. you might have broken the speedo cable. hope this helps

 

Somewhat, I'll have to check it out more tomorrow.

 

Disconnect the cable from the vss and reinstall it. Reset the ecu and the code should disappear.
