Default how to remove carbon deposits off the tops of pistons while in the car

I recently removed my cylinder head so i could have the valve fixed while its at the machine shop i notice some carbon on the tops of the pistons should i remove this? what is the best way to remove it? while the pistons are in the block? what chemcial? or should i just leave it alone?

soft brass wire brush head in a angle grinder at 40-45 psi.
