Default timing belt was coming off so I pulled the cover and the tensioner bolt was broke???

I have a h22a, a cam gear was bent and the belt was working its way off so I replaced the gear thinking that was the prob and the new timing belt still was trying to come off. The timing belt cover shaved a quarter of the belt off in a day. I pulled the cover off and the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley on tight was broken off. Everything looks fine so Im stumped, any suggestions?

Hey what setup are you running?? Stock tensioner components or did you do a H23 conversion.

All you can do is replace the bolt.

The same exact thing happened to me about a year ago, almost lost the engine the belt was shredded and gone so bad.
Anyway, just replace the bolt, i don't know why it happened to me either, but I haven't had any problems since.......

Its a stock auto tensioner.

Yeah, Im gonna replace the bolt and put it together without the cover and watch it run for a while to see if theres a problem.

I don't know if I'll get a response but I have an h22a4 and just upgraded the head. Stage 2 tuner cams, alpha spring & retainer, and tuner cam gears. when I cranked the car it ran awesome! about 2 months later I noticed that my belt was slowly getting chewed by my valve cover(BELT WALK). I replaced my belt and added a manual tensioner. I had my mechanic review my timing and when I got my car back it ran fine for about a week. Now I have the timing belt whining and I see the belt once again getting chewed by something. Im at a lose. I don't know where to go from here

Sounds like something is not running true. Might be your cam-gears are warped since this didn't start until you modified the head. Can you use the OEM ones with your new cams?
