Default LS question

If you had an ls head with Crower Stage 3 cams/valve springs/retainers, how high could you rev it before the stock bottom end would try to give? Thanks.

If you had the ecu flashed and a built head, I hope you would not rev it to the stock redline. Those cams make power up to 8200 rpms. My question is, could the stock bottom end handle that high of a rev. Thanks.

Well, the bottom end of an LS is not made to about the stock redline reliabily. With the shorter stroke and a crank reinforcement, the VTEC motors do not fly apart. Alot of people who do the LSVTEC conversions rev to 8k. The question here is that yoc can rev there, but how long will it last? Build the bottom end if you are building the head that much.

wait wait, stock bottom on ls/vtec. you should never go over 7800 MAXXX! I barley take mine over 7500 and Im still scared...

Ive seen so many incidents where people think they can take B16 or B18B to 8500/900 and be fine, wrong.

I'm not talking about ls/v-tec. I'm talking about the ls head on the ls block.

bottom end is built for around 7500 safely. anything more is fine as long as u dont mind shortening the life on the motor. THe rod bearings will wear quicker and the chances of spinning one is greater.

Dont forget the Rod Bolts will be one of the first things to go too.

I personally, would get a different rod, and ARP rod bolts. Then maybe consider going to 8k, but still expect shortened lifespan.
