honestly man... its real late and I don't feel like looking for a guide myself. So here is a free bump and a lil advice. I know there are countless thread on engine swapping. This swap ought to be VERY straight forward and good for a beginner.

Make sure to get the A6 tranny too.

The D16a6 will bolt right in. Take the HF motor out and put the Si motor in. You will have one plug on the back of the engine harness that wont plug into anything(small 2 wire plug) just leave it.

If you are swapping the Si tranny too then you will need the Si or DX axles and ftont hubs.

Everything was right except for the last part, as long as you retain your stock axles you do not need to swap hubs.

HF axles will not fit in the Si tranny. Thats why you need to swap the hubs and use the Si axles.

To go further into detail. HF axles fit into SI tranny, and SI axles fit into HF tranny. However, the hubs are what are different. HF axles will not fit into SI hubs and SI axles will not fit into HF hubs.

Interesting eh?

Gay I think!

Yeah....The axels controversey is a problem. These guys are right dude, get the a6 tranny, and get the SI Front end. The whoel Springs/struts, brakes, arms...all that good stuff. Trust me teh Hf axles are toothpicks....you don't want that SI tranny/motor running on those. You won't snap them but it is nice to have better axels witha better motor. And from a fellow Hf owner to another....good luck dude.

****** RIGHT! to H-T members who spread bad info.

I used 5 speed axles out of a 4 door EF in my HF trans with non HF knuckles.
4 speed EF axles are exactly like HF axles.
Autos? I don't know. Call AutoZone and see if they're the same pt # as an Si.

I wouldn't worry about breaking them unless you're running slicks or you're some kind of bun out king. HF are light hollow tube axles. I felt bad pulling them off of my HF to replace them with heavy solid axles.
