Default skunk2 cam gears, timing belt walking..wtf

anyone have any problems with their timing belts "walking" one way or the other with aftermarket cam gears. my Tbelt walks to the drivers side of the car and is rubbing the inside of the valve cover and i dont want to have it get worn out from the friction. any ideas as to what causes this and any solutions to solve the problem? do i possibly have out of round cam gears?

i believe Brewerhatch had this problem on his GSR.. he had stock cam gears and the reason for the belt walk was the cone shaped washer on the crank pulley.. i dont know how that happened or how that works but thats how it went..

if you forget the outer washer on the crank it will walk off and saw through the cover every time. We did have a customer running set of JG gears that did this anyway. never could figure it out. Eventually went back to stock gears and problem solved.

I had a problem with my timing belt jumping teeth when I had Skunk2 cam gears back when they first cam out. Since than I stay away from Skunk2 for the exception of my IM, but even that had flaws from the manufacturer as well that I had to fix before installing.

Skunk2 = shitty quality products

They need a better QA(Quality Assurance) dept.

you are so right we just had a customer who purchased a new set of cam gears and the cam gear was to thin and only road on the keyway. Bad QC for sure 8 grand in damage to a brand new set-up be carful with these cam gear i now theres alot of them out there! check all of these cam gears with out the keyway and put on the bolt to 35 ft lbs and see if you cam gear still rolls like a ferris wheel because thats all there good for if they do that!

I know a lot of ppl snub me b/c my cam gears are cheap but JG Engine Dynamic cam gears are excellant quality and I have had mine for 2 yrs so far and no problems. They go for $70 ea or $130 per pair! They have a 6- bolt design, very lightweight, and no play when installed. Very snug T-belt!

This is just an idea to help you guys keep your eyes open and to let you know that you dont have to spend ***-raping prices for a quality product to make power(not true in all cases though)!
