What do you pay for SS tig wire?

Default What do you pay for SS tig wire?

I want to see how much variance there is in prices. Post up, even if you're paying way high and are embarassed.

I paid roughly $5.20/lb for 316L recently. It tends to be a little higher for smaller wire than larger wire.

7-20 .. red neck hillbilly weld shop in town .. sucks assss .. 20$ for a pound of 304 1/16
b.s ..

i think it cost more for thinner wire b/c u get more strands of it .? b/c of the wieght .

That and because weld wire is made in a way that it all starts out the same and is worked down in size....so the smaller wire has to be worked down smaller from the original size the manufacturer buys.

I pay about $9/lbs from praxair, something like that? i dont really remember since i always buy a lot of stuff all at once.

I was hoping that you guys wouldn't be getting it so cheap I'd feel ripped off. I was pretty sure these local guys were doing me pretty well. I do have to buy the stainless in 10lb boxes though. Aluminum, I can get in 5lb boxes.

wow yall guys get ripped I get 308 1/16 for 3.50 a lb and 309 1/16 for 4.00 a lb. there is no limit or minimum as to how much I can buy aswell.

Sorry off topic.

Camshafts: High performance camshafts cost more than the milder grinds, but the manufacturer has less machining time (due to more lift and duration) on the identical blank. Go figure. Too many marketing geniuses out there screwing us.
