Its going ot be the valves out of adjustment. There are no lifters in an accord. Once adjusted properly the noise will eighter go away completely or be barly noticable.

If the noise is noticeable when the engine is cold, then it is normal. When the engine is completely warm, no tapping noise should be heared. I dought it seriously if you need a valve adjustment at 70k. Make sure oil level is correct.

is it a v6? i THINK the 3.0 has hydraulic valve which means it's automatically adjusted.

the f23 four banger is mechanical, 30k is a good time to check the valve spec, replacing the Valve-cover gasket while you at it. F sohc motor are known to be pretty noise(sewing machine ) but for 70k, your lifter might be little off, so have it checked out anyway

I just got a quote for this today on my 97. It was $80 for labor and $12 for some gasket that they recomended I replace at the same time.

if you run your car hard, it's not unlikely that you will need it at 70k. at least that's what I've seen in my experience.

I adjusted the valves myself. If you have mechanical knowledge and you're more than a novice, you should be able to do it yourself.

Mine was talking to me before I adjusted them. Now it's barely noticable (over 200K, I'm not complaining).

And I'm agreeing with elvis1977 on this one, make sure your oil level is good. That will make them scream at you and not to mention, completely screw your engine.
