Default Price to modify cat?

About how much do you think it would cost to extend a cat 4 inches and weld two 2.5in flanges on at an exhaust shop?

i thought in VA that if you had a modified exhaust you had to have the cat welded in...

any shop shouldn't charge too much for it...

I didn't think it would be much but I was just wondering which would be cheaper. A cat with no flanges for ~55 or the pre-flanged cats that are like 100+. I guess I'll get the one with no flanges and go to a shop.

And I havent heard anything about the cat having to be welded in.

flanges re about $3 a peice, tubing is about $4 per foot, welding off the car $10...

if its on the car its harder. I would not spend more than $30 to get what you want done.

If you go to a commercial shop/ muffler shop etc. take that 50 bux and tack on 10000 bux or whatever the epa fine is for modifying emissions equipment. Thats about what they would charge, or at least thats what I would tell people when they asked me to do stuff like that at my shop.

You confusing modifying, and installing a universal cat on any car. If you take out the cat material within then yes, thats an EPA fine.

Any car after 4 (or is it 6) years (in CA) can have an exhaust on the specific car, so long as it passes noise and emmissions.

That is partly what I was referring to...the time frame or age of the vehicle with which you are working on. Anyway, fifty bucks would be a reasonable amount of money for you to pay.
