Default OBD2 motor into OBD1 car

I have searched but couldnt find defintive answers so need to post the question.
My friend has a UK EG civic ESi (not sure on the engine code but its either D16Y8 or maybe D16Z6 but its the D-series SOHC VTEC motor and is OBD1). He has bought an OBD2 B16A2 engine from a crashed UK VTi (EK4). He plans to put this engine into the EG ESi. He wants to keep the OBD1 wiring harness and use a JDM P30 ECU, which i think shouldnt cause any problems, he just needs to know what extra wiring is needed to run the OBD2 engine on the OBD1 ECU/wiring harness. I have told him to get the OBD2 wiring and ECU to make it easier but money is tight and for now this isnt an option, so can anyone shed any light on how easy/difficult this swap will be and what is needed etc.
TIA

It should be a D16Z6 or variation of that, because the Y8's were used from 96-00 and are OBD2A and B. You will want to transfer the stock engine harness onto the B16A. The alternator and distributor plugs will need repinned/rewired since the OBD2 plugs won't match up. The injector plugs are different but you can reuse the stock injectors, they flow the same. Aside from the plug changes, you will need to add the knock sensor wire, that's about it.

Thank you, i just confirmed today that its the D16Z6 motor in the car. So apart from re-wiring the plugs you mentioned there is no need to run any extra wiring to the P30 ECU?

Yes you will have to add the knock sensor wire as I mentioned.
