Help! I need Wiring Diagrams
Currently installing a JDM B16A into a 96 civic HB and the engine is OBD1 and the car is OBD2. Can SOMEONE please supply me or know where I can get the wiring diagrams for this swap? Especially the ECU conversion harness!!!! Please and thank you! Tried doing it using haynes manual for both engines but somethings wrong. car idles but as soon as the throttle is applied the car suffers. we have eliminated ignition problems and fueling problems. We have disconnected many electrical clips while the engine is running but non have yet to light up the "check engine light"??? We are using a ecu harness that came of ebay so we are thinking that this may be the problem but we need diagrams to make sure.
Normally when this kinda of swap is done (OBD1 engine in OBD2 vehicle), you have 2 options.
Option 1)
Convert the OBD1 engine to OBD2 spec by getting an OBD2 b-series distributor, alternator and injectors. Then you reuse your existing OBD2 civic engine harness on the motor and perform the mods to (IACV fix, add VTEC & knocK); then when it comes to the ECU you have a couple options as well: (A) run an OBD2a or OBD2b (OBD2a in your case) to OBD1 ecu jumper harness + OBD1 ecu (reprogrammed P28 ecu perhaps) or (B) run a JDM OBD2a ecu which will plug directly into your existing OBD2a wire harness/ecu plugs. You can't use a US OBD2a ecu unlesss you add a CKF sensor to your oil pump, because all US OBD2 ecu's look for the CKF sensor; JDM OBD1 & all OBD1 ecu's (JDM & US) don't look for this sensor.
Option 2)
Reuse your existing OBD2a civic engine harness on the B16, but you'll have to change the distributor plugs, injector plugs, and alternator plugs to OBD1 spec (on the harness side) in order to be compatible with your OBD1 B16A engine. Then follow the ecu suggestions i mentioned already.
how did you wire in your car exactly? sounds like you didn't use an OBD1 jumper harness converter...
