The first time I drive my car in the morning, the gas pedal is hard to initially push down. I have to tap it so it won't stick in the up position. It just started happening. Any thoughts?

Crud in the throttlebody, where the throttle plate sits against the bore. Or maybe just a dirty cable??

Check the throttle cable just before it winds onto the TB. Is there adjustment bolts and a rubber cover/boot ? If so spray a silcone lube in the cover boot. Slide it back and forth a little to loosen the old lube/sh*t up inside.

 

It doesn't take much crud to get the S.T.D. [sticky throttle disease] A soft bristle brush, some carb cleaner, hold the throttle open and spray and scrub. Then wipe out the junk and see how it works in the morning.

they have a recall on that, i happens quite often especially the SE model.

my mom has a 01` 4dr EX that was doing the same thing. The dealer took care of it for her. Call them up.

Your right on the money. Thanks, I'll check into it..

 

I would take some carb cleaner and spray it all over the spring and cable and then take wd40 and spray it down after that. You probally have dirt and grime in the spring
