Default Colder spark plug to help against detonation?

Im currently running the Bosch Platinums and at anything higher then 15 degrees it detonates (12:1 CR on 91 octane)...it also detonates bad at low RPMs in high gears, even on 15 degree base timing.

Should I try a colder running spark plug? Any suggestions?

Yes...unless I dish out $5+ per gallon of unleaded 103 octane

Up here in Canada - we are fortunate and can get 94 at the pump. I was running Denso Iridiums for about 6 months that were 1 temp range colder. I found that the car ran really rough when cold and stalled once in a while. These problems disappeared when I switched back to the original plugs. Maybe you should get a fuel pressure riser?

Is your combustion chamber spot-faced?

Try running less base timing.

Also, the Skunk program is crazy on the timing maps.
Too bad you sold your Hondata. I would have sent you my program I did for my car this past weekend.

No, the head is 100% stock, combustion chambers and all.

Im running the Mugen chip, didnt even try the Skunk2 program.
Any idea how the ignition maps on that are?

I'm running the NGK BKR7E-N11 in my GSR motor. No problems, had to order those as they weren't stocked.

Val, the Mugen and Skunk programs are the same.. I don't care what anyone says. Same .

I am running the PFR6G-13 plugs in my car.

You should have had your chambers matched.

True....

Just not used to spending over 100 for plugs. PFR6G-11 & PFR7G-11 are better than stock, that's all I need to know.
