Default B20VTEC dyno

In case you dont visit the ITR forum...here is it...

<IMG SRC="http://www.orbit3d.com/view.phtml?id=528.jpg
" BORDER="0">
206.4 @ 7650 Horsepower
151.7 @ 6200 Torque

B20VTEC
11.95:1 CR
Stock B16A2 head
97 Spec R cams
ITR manifold
JDM ITR header
Cold Air intake
Tanabe B-Pipe/ES Tuning muffler
Mugen chip w/ VAFC
Cam gears at 0,0 (not tuned0
Timing: 15 degrees
91 Octane
VTEC: 4900

The car likes to run really weird. Modereate a/f ratio in the midrange, WAY rich in the top end. I tried leaning out the top end and lost around 6 WHP!
The ignition timing is set at 15 degrees, advancing anymore caused detonation.
I tried lowering the VTEC point and the top end started to dive, Im not sure if that spike is due to the VTEC or the CAI effect.

Im pleased with the results, I think the cam gear tuning will yield some more power, especially midrange. Im hoping for 210 HP / 155-160 TQ on stock R cams

HX_Guy, that little spike looks like it's due to engaging VTEC too early. try something like 5100-5200. if it were too late, then the hp curve would get flat and then jump up when vtec comes on. basically that spike, but upsidedown.

I did try later, and got this...

Thats 4900 vs 5100 vs 5500

I think 4900 is the best out of those.

hmm, yea 4900 is deffinetly better than 5100. if that spike cant be fixed w/ vtec x-over, then it's fuel and valve timing just before and right at the time of the switch. but i dont think u have anything to worry about: that curve looks very good as it is

The spike looks like air/fuel tuning to me. I think the ECU dumps in extra fuel when vtec engages. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd gain more midrange by upping the fuel pressure a bit.
