Well, it's official. I traded my DA for 92egvx's Hatchback. I only have one problem with it. Theres a rattling really bad, when I start to drive in 1st gear. I was told from a friend that It could be the clutch or maybe the bearing on my arm. It sounds pretty bad, but the car runs great. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Any help is appreciated. Oh, btw i'll get pictures up as soon as I can.

You're being extremely vague with details on the problem you are experiencing. this rattling is it coming from the engine bay, under the car or from the rear? clutch engaged, normal driving, etc. etc. etc... help us and we'll help you.

 

Sorry, it comes from under the car. I was thinking it might be the exhaust, but I'm not too sure. It's hard to tell really, sounds like all under the car. It makes the sound when I let the clutch out and start to accelerate. I have to go drive my friend home in about 10 minutes, i'll be able to get a better description then. Again sorry for the vagueness.

Well the noise is definetely coming from the bottom. Hard to pinpoint where exactly, but somewhere under there. It only makes the noise when I release the clutch and start to accelerate, only in first gear I think. I hope that is enough information. Thanks.

 

Also, the driver side window is smashed out. Anyone know about how much it would cost to get a new window. I think I can do the installation myself. Anyone know a good place in the bay area, or a pricerange please let me know.

 

could it be the cat cover thats loose? and rattling against the cat? but then again.. do vx's have cats under the body of the car? not exactly sure but its a thought

i was about to say the same thing...sounds like the dust cover on the cat is rattling against the cat. not sure how to fiw it....I think they are welded to the cat?

I had something like that before and it ended up being my exhaust pipe....they told me that it was a double wall pipe and that the pipe inside was loose which caused the rattling sound.....so you can check that too......
