B16 hatch question
My friend has a b16 hatch . It has a full built all crower motor.....ignition...intake mani...everything the works...He has this strange problem and supposedly he has done a full rebuild on the motor twice. It bogs out and loses power at high rpm 5500+. I told him to put higher octane gas and maybe gap the plugs. Is the there a certain gap to set your plugs at for a all motor b16 with higher compression? ANy ideas post me up...
check grounds, check dizzy and igniter unit...
oh and being fully built is he using higher CC injectors?

Make sure the distributor is in good working order. Also check the grounding points where the engine is grounded to the chassis. Another thought is maybe the timing. Has the car been tuned on a dyno or street tuned?

Know someone that had the same problem with a gs-r. When vtec kicked in the motor bogged way down. Ended up being the dizzy. try replacing it, if it does not work, then you can always take it back.
ive already replaced the dizzy, and it took most of the problem away. this problem has a different "feel" to it. but yah when the dizzy was messed up the bog was terrible.
Yeah, I heard the dizzy was replaced. The thing is it still does it? I'll buy it, tow it to my house this weekend and switch up the dizzy. It has msd...any certain brand dizzy thats best to use?
hey...update on exactly whats crackin. the b16 all motor is misfiring at 2500-3000 rpm....it bogs heavy after that... and also the vtec is not popping on. There is a error code.... does this sound like two different problems? the dizzy ?

its the code #22 the vtec selenoid oil pressure switch? He told me he as put a sensor from a 99 civic si with vtec, It should be working and brand new. I will test out these ideas over the weekend. Let me know if you got more
I just got back from towing the car to my place. Some ****...took me all day to get it sold. Well plans happened like they were suppose to. I'm going to start my mission with working on this car. I have a update for you guys to know about the dizzy... Its a weird ignition setup...so its a MSD 6A that routes to a ignition coil box...???? I guess...and that send like a normal 8.5 mm msd wire to the dizzy. the dizzy is a msd pro charger or something....and then the dizzy has four normal wires under the hood. I personally think MSD aint that good, I should go with NGK....? and maybe that might HELP? I think that will be step number... I still need to figure out if code 22 is related to my overall problem... Maybe I should start with that? how can I fix that????
