Default GT28RS vs. GT2871 - Spoolup on a B16

Hi,

does anony have a spoolup compare between the GT28RS and the GT2871 on a B16 engine?

i saw tony's vid but that on a B18 and its hard to guess how it would feel on a B16.

maybe someone has some numbers...

Thanks

Tony's vid was based upon a VERY unique setup, and the characteristics are similar, but don't look at it as an exact comparison to a B16.

the gt28rs will spool up faster. i know tony originally had a gt28rs and once he switched to the gt2871 he complained that it was to laggy compared to the 28rs......haha......but by looking at his videos and actually driving his car the "lag" he's referring to is almost non-existent compared to most other turbo setups.

choose:
gt28rs if you will be happy with around 300-320whp
gt2871r if you want to make closer to 380-400whp or more?

what type of gt2871 was it? I heard the 52 trim with .48AR spools quickly.

i would definetly go with the larger a/r on the exhaust housing to get maximum flow. Still spool fast and help from dying off uptop.

the more I learn about these honda engines, the more I realize you need on average 1 size larger a/r on the turbine side so the turbo will still flow well up in the top of our rev range.

the 28RS is a fantastic turbo, but at 300whp, you'll do nothing but spin the tires lower in the revs. 2871 has room to grow and will still spool like a bat outta hell!
