ECU Error!
I thought i give this one more shot before i take it to the shop and get it check. . cause i didn't really get any help last time i posted this.
My engine is a sohc zc. i'm using a pm6 ecu. Use a HF engine harness also.
I'm getting a code 1 error. I believe that's the O2 sensor?
It doesn't come into effect until i'm around 40mph - 60mph on 4th or 5th gear. That's when the check engine light comes on and the car act really sluggish.
help please? Don't wanna let the shop ripped me off. If it's my last resort i'll have it check there but since i have some confident in HT members diaganosting the error!

I didnt say it was the timing lol...
Listen the knock sensor retards the timing or advances it when it hears the engine knock understand....
Now If you say its a code 1 are you 100% sure its not 10? becuase 10 is air intake temperature sensor and if its malfunctioning your car will be running lean or rich causing bogging like you said...
Now the thing is I have heard of the o2 sensor coming on and off(have you have a header or any work done recently because carbon build up on the o2 sensor can cause it to malfunction)
Thing is the o2 sensor doesnt usually cause that much of a problem if its not working properly...
Hope I helped you out...
Let me know what it is if you find out

I don't think zc's have a knock sensor.
Code 1=oxygen content
I'd check fuel pressure, the fuel pressure regulator, and the o2 sensor. Those affect oxygen content.

I didnt think they had a knock sensor mostly only b-series if im not mistaken...
but ya like this last person said Fuel effect o2 sensors if your car is running rich, raw fuel damages cat's and o2 sensors but my bet is really on carbon build up which means your burning oil or running rich.. check your spark plugs they are usually an idication of carbon build up ect...

acually it sounds just like an o2 sensor, check the circuit and change the o2, 1 is the code for o2.

i had this problem too. what it is exatly is the o2 is lazy and wont create a voltage b/c it's 15 years old. (o2 sensors should be a regular replacement matinance item. replaced around evrey 60K.)since there is no voltage the ecu thinks it's open and sets CEL and code. it only does it like on a freeway offramp right? going bout 50 and then de-accelerate? thats what mine did. replace the o2 and it will be fine.
I did some test runs, usually the " check engine " light comes on in 5 mins or less. We'll this time i left the heater on and it haven't come up for about 20 mins then it pops up. would heat be a factor?
