headlights
I'm looking into getting new and improved headlights (just the bulbs actually) for better vision. Searching around the internet I found Sylvania Cool Blue light, any1 used these and care to share their experince. Also saw something about xenon headlights, apparently you have to replace the whole system...??? Can any1 tell me more about these xenon headlights (philips website suck on this)!!??
Or maybe any other recommendations?
I'm just interested in a cheap upgrade.....

do you care about light output or light color?
If you care about light ouput... stick with stock or get HID
If you care about light color.. get one of those blue coated bulbs.. nokya or something

I have Xenon bulbs in my car now. I just replaced the bulb though. The bulbs are actually stock wattage, but just a different color. More white than blue. Standing in front of the car you can't really tell, but from a distance........you can tell they are not stock bulbs. I called Mike at IPS Racing the other day and priced a HID kit. These Xenon bulbs ore the only ones that I have owned that have lasted this long. If you get high wattage bulbs you might have problems with bulbs busting from getting too hot or melting your wiring harness. I know cause it happened to me. For the $ that I have spent on after market bulbs, I probably could have already boought a HID kit.
At the moment I think I changed my mind about upgrading to HID.
I'm just going to look for some better bulbs. I have seen some recomandations for a modified 9005 to fit 9006. Have any1 done this? Did it melt any cables etc.?
Have any1 one used any of these bulbs?
Upgrade Part Number = 9006ST
"High Performance Halogen - Whitest, Brightest, Sharpest"
Upgrade Part Number = 9006CB
Cool Blue Halogen - White Hot; Super Cool; 100% Street Legal
Upgrade Part Number = 9006XV
Halogen XtraVision - Up to 20% brighter than standard
Upgrade Part Number = 9006LL
Halogen Plus Long Life - Lasts 1 1/2 times longer than standard
Also I don't care about looks, if I did, I'd dish out the money for HID's. I have better places to spend my money. ON PERFORMANCE PARTS!!
What about the xenon bulbs? (assuming they are bulbs and fit into my socket)
much appreciated for input.....

BTW, there have been several discussion over on the Integra forum at H-A.net about this lighting upgrade. A couple people have used a new bulb from Sylvania called SilverStar ( http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm ) which is supposed to be whiter than the stock bulb. The only downside I see to SilverStar bulb is that it cost around $25 a piece. But that is relatively inexpensive when compared to HID.

i have 9005 sylvania cool blues in my low beams.....shows up white on the road and there is no blue/green tint to it or when looking at it, just looks like a really fuggin bright white....and yes, it does throw more light because i had my friendpull up next to me with his PIAA platinums and we got out and compared, mine was more intense light and the light was thrown farther (our cars are the same height and both headlights at stock adjustment level..not aimed up at all)....i was happy with it since it took 10 minutes and the bulbs were sitting around in my garage from my old car.
i replaced my bulbs twice... the first time with some brand... i forget the name. The second time i replaced them with PIAA white platinums, which are supposed to be whiter. Well, they weren't, and they cost more (around $79 for a pair). I wished i remember the name of the first set, they were some lower name brand but much brighter... white. I could find out if it helps you.
