Default A couple questions for those building H1 or H2 RSX's

I know there are a few on the west coast built or being built. What have you been able to get the cars down to as far as min weight in either H1 or H2 prep. Also what wheel/tire options have you found or are using.
Thanks

The RO_JA Motorsports RSX is the only one that I know of that's actually run. It tips the scales at 2425 without driver. That was in H1 trim.
It ran 245/45 RA-1s on 18x9" RO_JA R2-5s. It's a very tight fit. The 235/40 in 17x8s would be easier and give you better gearing. Motegi Racing will have their Track Lite IIs available in 17x8" soon.

Thanks Andy. Just what I was looking for. Any more opinions are welcome too.

I think you could probably hit 2300 but you will start to dip into the grey area that is weight savings.

The grey area is what makes a fast car. I'm glad to hear that. Makes looking at H1 with the car a good idea since 2350 is the min weight.

hi ryan.

have you considered running your rsx-s in H2? only reason i mention this, is that power wise, you will be pushing the same HP number in H2 as in H1 this year (or very close to it).....

all K series motors in H1 must be completely oem/stock. no headwork, cams, etc. if i were building a RSX to run in HC, i think i'd build it to run in H2.

i think given the new 2005 ruleset, the cars to beat will be either the H series cars, or the lighter B series cars (both free when it comes to headwork/cams). i think you will be fairly seriously hobbled running a K series in H1.....

having said that, i think also that the K, when completely stock, and when shifted at 8k or less, will be very reliable (mine has been rock solid). my plan has been to go out and run quick and safe and hope for the fast leaders to break!

good luck to you guys with your rsx-s in 2005

todd,

its not my rsx, but I will be helping set it up and drive it.

I have looked at H2, but with about the same power as a type R, 200 lb heavier min weight, and can't really seem to find a tire that looks on paper would be as fast as the 225/45/15 hoosier the ITR guys can use.

I'm just doing research for the team right now. I think the car already has a non-stock motor and was unaware that the motor must stay stock for H1. I hadn't gotten that far into the motor rules for H1, but had assumed they were the same for B-series. Guess I was wrong and will read more into that later on.

Thanks for the advice.

BTW, what tire/wheel combo are you running on yours? That seems to be the biggest guessing point for me. All my knowledge is based on the 00 or earlier cars.

the problem with the Motegi wheels are they only take the tuner type lug nuts......I wouldn't race with those type of lug nuts...

too bad too because the Motegi wheels are forged and light to boot

hmmm.

wheel tire combo = i have two sets of wheel/tires: team dynamics pro 15 x 7 wheels with 225-50-15 tires or rota attack 15 x 6.5 with 205-50-15 tires. around here, on the east coast, the fastest tires definitely seem to be the 04 hoosiers. at least last year, the "fast tires" were the hoosiers. i generally ran either toyos or 03 hoosiers last year, because that was what i had lying around in the basement!

back to the H2 debate; i think the K20A2 in an rsx-s will make more power in H2 than a similarly equipped B18C5. the K20A2 responds really well to headers, intake, and hondata. you should see 200 whp properly tuned, i should think. i think that will be noticeably stronger, especially torquewise, than a similarly prepped H2 Teg R. whether that is enough to make up the weight difference, i don't know. also, i don't know if the rsx-s chassis is going to be able to be set up as well with the mac susp compared to the Teg R.....

i guess time will tell!

good luck

todd
