metallic grinding sound
i just bought a 94 civic hatch (auto) for a beater, and noticed a bad grinding type sound from the rear drivers side wheel, possible the drum is seized a lil or a wheel bearing, any ideas? please help...
Put blocks on the front wheels, jack up the rear with the parking brake released, and spin the wheels. See what happens... Then post back with the results if you're still having trouble locating the problem.
ok that was done already, i didnt have the chance to tear into the rear wheels but it grinds when i spin the wheel and its still hard t determine if its the brakes or not..
any ideas please..

Most the time the brakes will make more of an audible noise that is easily noticable. Bearings I've had go bad make more of a droning noise and only when completely shot to hell will they actually make any kind of a griding noise.
you're gonna have to take the wheel and drum off to figure this one out... probably just shoes though...
