Default Found Leak

Well i found the leak in my hatchback. I pulled the up the cowl at the bottom of the windshield to check for leaks and sure enough its leaking around the seam where the fresh air for the blower motor goes in. What does honda reccommend to use for a sealer? The sealer is pretty much all gone and has a little surface rust around the edges where the water has leaked in.

When i pulled up my carpet both drivers and passengers side padding that runs up the firewall was wet. I am 90% sure that the water was leaking in through the blow motor and the padding was acting like a sponge and soaking up the water all the way across the padding to the drivers side from the passengers side.

What does honda say to use for a sealer? Im going to go out and buy some tomorrow so i can fix this before it snows monday.

I would not focus on a Honda product for sealant. Do a Google search on auto-water leaks. My folks had a dealer third party leak repair and they used a dark tar like stuff.

If you have a moist carpet on the drivers side carpet check to make sure the plug in the floor board is not leaking. However from your post and from my experience if the water is leaking from the blower motor you can use any type of sealent to stop the leak, I would reccommend 3M window weld(about $10 a tube) to seal it. This is the stuff used to install your windshield and you can also use the remaining amount to stiffen your stock mounts. But the true cause of the leak if coming in through your blower motor is your cowl, the plastic piece that runs the length of your windshield-lower- is warped and allowing the water to seep onto your firewall and run onto your worn seal around or into the blower motor.

So does anyone know the part number for the cowl and the gasket that goes around the cowl? When i pulled the cowl off there was no gasket on it, is there one that goes there? I have brand new clips to put in but dont want to put them in if i need a new cowl and gasket because the clips like to break.

Do you guys think that the water leaking into the blower motor would cause both sides of my padding to get wet? The carpet itself was not wet per say but the foam padding that runs up the firewall was wet.
