anny suggestions as to the procedure/ additional things to watch for /replace when i take it apart? it has 145k miles, so i will probbaly replace the timing belt, since ill be in ther anyways. anything else?

It is pretty simple. Unbolt everything from the head, including the intake manifold. Slip off the timing belt, remove the valvecover, and unbolt the head. I have pulled several of these heads like this, takes me about a half hour to tear it down...

Yeah... I agree with the water pump too. I had mine replaced at 144K. They will go bad sooner or later, and might as well replace it while in the process of all the other junk.
