Default headgasket replace question

well it seems my head gasket is leaking. there are dribbles of oil coming out were the block meets the head on ether sides of the motor in the front. the motor that i got was from a front impact wrecked car.

possible head warped or maybe the bolts skipped teeth or...

anyhow you dont need to take the intake manifold off to do this right? i got a skunk2 IM on right now and i have enough room to pull the head without removing it. i just put a new gasket on so that would be a pain.

another ? anyone know of a link to get a whole headgasket/timing belt kit. i have a timing belt whine as well.

You don't have to take the intake manifold off.

I find it easier to just remove the manifold and pull it away from the head. That way I don't have to worry about sensor plugs, vacuum lines, etc.

If you buy a head gasket kit it will come with a new intake manifold gasket, and I would probably just unbolt the intake manifold and pull the head since you may have to take it to a machine shop to check for warpage and get it milled.

But to answer your question you can just remove the head and intake manifold still bolted together. Just be sure to remove all the lines, sensors, and I personally unbolted the fuel rail and just left it sitting in the engine bay so I didn't have to mess with that.

They don't sell timing belt kits and head gasket kits together, both kits come with different items...but I just always buy mine off Ebay (not Ebay brand) and end up saving a fortune.
