Default Thinking of buying ITR

I was shopping for SI's, but for a little more dough I figured I could get a real road machine. Entre ITR. I've read nothing but good about the ITR over the past few years and was wondering if there's a downside in purchasing one, save vandalism/theft. Anything else to consider? Do they maintain the classic Honda reliability? Will the engine blow up after 100K miles? Etc...thanks in advance.

No.

Do they maintain the classic Honda reliability?
Yes, if you keep it stock.

Will the engine blow up after 100K miles?
No, if you keep it stock.

The ITR suffers from high insurance compared to its other lower trim Integra siblings. Although it may not be so distinct in premiums in other states. From my experience here in NJ, the difference is $4600 compared to $2100. (ITR vs. GSR; full coverage; 22 year old w/clean record)

A number of ITR owners suffer from burning oil. Others do not.

Other than that, I would take the ITR over the Si. You can definately notice a difference in handling characteristics and power.

PiYoImut - You are very fortunate to live in PA. I on the other hand suffer from NJ rates. Hell, I could buy another $25,000 in roughly 5-6 years if I did not have to pay such a ridiculous premium

No car is a good Investment, this car does however seem to retain a higher resale rate, but is FAR from a good investment

But you will enjoy the car hands down over the SI, i assure you

Check the insurance first. I almost bought one last year.
It would have been $3900 and change (from what I remember) for an 00 ITR, 96 Altima (wife's) and 01 Pathfinder LE compared to $1655 right now for a 98GSR, Altima and 01 Pathfinder.
That is more than twice as much and I can't justify it to my wife who thinks they are the same car

Type R is a WAY better car than an Si. I wish i had gotten a Type R instead of a GSR, all the money i put into mine, i could have had an ITR Oh well, whatever you like i guess.

Yeah my agent just thinks mine is a "Integra". Yay for me.
What do you mean? You got one of those insurance co. who treats all Integras the same?

Vandelism and theft should be a concern. About 2-3 a month disappear, and even more have been de-badged. So if this is your only car it may be tough to feel safe parking at the mall.

The only thing I regret about getting an ITR is the fact that I'm a smoker, and it doesn't have a sunroof for me to ash out of.

You are in Washington? Do you live around Seattle?
I currently reside in Olympia.
Thanks for all your help guys, ITR owners seem more like real enthusiasts than Si owners...a lot of Si owners I meet tend to be youngish and in many cases, immature(don't get me wrong, I have friends who own Si's). Anyway, thanks again...I hope to join the ITR ranks soon. Peace.
