Can't Shift out of park. Help!!
So today i'm driving my car like normal goin to work and when it was time to leave i put the key in and the shifter won't come out of park. I have no brake lights or cruise control either. i searched but couldn't find much. Someone told me that when you put the key in the ignition and step on the brake you should hear a click, if you don't then it's the switch assembly under the center console. Someone please help cuz i can't go anywhere with my car like this. Oh yeah i can get it out of park if i use the shift lock.
Replace the center brake light bulb, its probably out.
If i remember correctly, on the 90-93 accords the solenoid that lets you shift out of park is wired with the center brake light, so if the bulb goes bad you cant shift out of park.
Im not sure if honda changed this or not on integras, but its worth a shot to check it out, and check your fuses for your brake lights/ and cruise control.

anyone else? I checked all the fuses. I never heard of the brake light thing but it's worth a shot. with the click in the center console, mine doesn't anymore. so i think thats the problem. anymore suggestions?
there should be a hole for your key by your shifter that says shift lock release. that overrides your "safe foot on brake bullshit" i know its like that in my 90 integra which is an auto, but i got a manual in my 96 so im just thinking there should be a shift lock release somewhere. let me know
if you have to, use the shift lock release. to get it fixed: you have no brake lights and no cruise, this means your boo switch is out. (dont ask me, ase calls it a boo switch since obd2). its a simple switch, heres what it looks like:

you probably need to replace this switch.

i just had the same problem w/ my accord. My back lights + horn didnt work becuse the fuse blew. Some exposed wires were touching metal and once i fixed that, teh fuse did not blow and then the shifting problem was fixed

Thats exactly what it was, was the exposed brake wire that was grounding out and it kept blowing the fuse for the horn
. I ripped the whole car apart to find it and once i did and fixed, all was well
. Thanks for the help everyone.
