JDM B16 into USDM Si question
The engine in my 2000 Honda Civic Si just failed on me, and I'm in need of another engine.
Looking online at http://www.hmotorsonline.com I found an engine. I need to know if there are any compatibality issues with the swap. Seeing as how the old engine was a b16a2, and the new engine is a B16-SiR II I need to know what problems I can encounter.
Here is a link to the engine http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/...30004
Thanks for any insight.

Your car is an obd2 and the B16A sir2 motor is an obd1 motor.. The obd2 motors have a CFK(Crank Fluxuation sensor) behind the crank pulley.. Youll have to use the crank gear for the timing belt off your old motor and also the sensor itself..
I know the oil pumps are the same between the years so you should be able to put the obd2 gear and sensor on to your new motor with no problems.. I would use your old intake manifold on the new motor incase the new intake has some sensors that arent in the same places(I know the sir2 intake manifold doesnt have the IAT sensor on the runner, but I think the usdb obd2's do)..
What happend to your old engine?

the oil pump on an obd1 engine will not have a mounting area for the cfk so he will need to use an obd2 oil pump

Me/Tgreaves/My mechanic seem to think that the blown headgasket caused antifreeze to get into the cylinders and hydrolock it. I'm not too educated about mechanics, but that sounds like an apt description.

Ok, how long is it going to take to switch out the oil pumps? This is not being done by myself, or a friend, but rather by a shop. I'm trying to gague how much this whole process is going to cost

You might want to check into this, I dont think you have to switch the oil pumps but just the timing belt gear on the crank and moving over the CFK sensor..

I kinda thought about after I posted it.. So he would have to swap the oil pumps between the obd1 and obd2 then, along with the sensor and timing belt gear..
