10.5:1 cr on fmu?
you think i could run 10.5 cr on an fmu probably on 5-7 psi for a month or two? i'll eventually upgrade to uberdata/safc.. but just wondering if it would be alright...
on sohc d16a6... pistons, rods, bore 20 over, spin ballance... was goin nitrous but decided to go turbo, and i already have the block... thanks

I ran a FMU set up on a stock type R motor for almost a year on 5.5psi and was fine...Tony1 tuned the car with a VAFC and it made 254whp on that low boost...so I don't see why all these guys "wouldn't"

maybe because uberdata came out and its much easier to be safe and fast now..

I just don't why people even think to use an inferior fuel managment system when they spend so much money on a built motor. If you were stock I'd say go for it, but you have nice internals. If it's a money issue, which doesn't look like it because you built the damn block, I would say uberdata. Just get the right fuel managment. It's like feeding a Kentucky derby race horse hamburgers for his meals!

only thing holding me back from using uberdata right now is where i live hawaii on kauai, no body's using it... so i would have to learn and tune myself... i heard it isn't that hard but jsut the fact that no one can help me... but i'm still learnign as much as possible about uberdata and would rather run it... so i just might hold off untill i fully understand... thanks for the replies
ya, definately dont skimip out on the fuel management. uberdata is very easy and relatively quick to get. go with uberdata or hondata.
like adseguy said, it doesnt look like money is an issue here......i wouldnt risk it on a built motor imo

Because he never said he would get it tuned with afc, so runing only fmu on 10.5 motor without a tune is recepie for disaster.

I have a budy with a 90 civic hatch with a bone stock d16z6 on 9psi daily driver with fmu and fuel pump thats its been boosted for about 7 mounths now no problems at all
^^^ yeah but thats on a stock motor with stock compression... imma be 10.5 cr..
the hard part is, there's no one to tune for me... there ain't even a fricken dyno on the island.. haha, but i'll prob pick up a wideband and figure uberdata out.. thanks

Uderdata is free - you just need to chip the ecu which you can do yourself. FMU is just bad news.
But i suppose if you are careful, and dont go crazy and do some highway pulls it will *prolly* be okay. I wouldnt boost on one.
