Mid-Ohio April 9/10.... what's your excuse?
EDIT: I AM NOT GOING. Doing Road America with NASA the same weekend (April 9/10).
Hey everyone, in the greater midwest and Northeast..
Northern Ohio BMWCCA is running Mid-Ohio on April 9/10.
http://www.nohiobmwcca.org/cal....html
[EDIT fixed link, well mostly]
Anyone in? It looks like I am going. I haven't paid yet but plan on it. Should be fun! Type R's can surprise a lot of BMWs there.
In my experience, HPDE's get more track time when not run at the same time as a club race, and this is NOT a club race weekend. This can be as much as a full hour or two more. Non-BMWCCA members are invited for an extra $40, but a 1-year membership is $40.
This will be my second time at Mid-O with BMWCCA.
Good warm-up for Expo, also a good chance to work out the bugs in your setup.
Mid-O was voted the "Best track in the US" by professional track reviewer Ken Sax. Very dramatic elevation changes and tricky cambered turns. Great corner workers there, too.
So, why haven't YOU signed up yet?
Oh, because they don't have an application online? Well, I have it in my email from the event chair, and there are plenty of seats left.
-Chris
(Note, if you really don't like BMWCCA, NASA is running the previous weekend.)

Sucks to hear about the track schedule lightness.
I gotta get out more often before my HPDE license (no kids) expires.

too far away.. and there are plenty of tracks nearby.
Even fewer events this year = happy Will.
I will have to pick and chose which ones I attend.
Watkins = a no-go
(would have been the 4th year in a row)
Summit = why drive up for that?
CMP = maybe
Rockingham = a given
Road Atlanta = a given
Exb0w = a given
VIR = a few times
LMS = nasa sux

Better than [grey with age]. Yeah, your work schedule owns you! You should switch jobs, become a part time gourmet track food chef, and get free driving schools from PCA/BMWCCA, move up to F1 and you're on your internationizzle way! Woo hoo!
Who else would pay $50 for a pork chop, sweet potato strudel, tangerine-bacon jus, and garlic spinach and a glass of wine at the track from Cafe Anton?

I’m going to see what I can do about hitting Mid-OH on fool’s weekend and possibly the Glen in September with the NY crew since they talk such **** about it.
Y0 oil slick you doing some travelin’ this year or what? VIR and RA. I hear they fill up those BMW events fast and they do some cool drills so sign up quick.

Yeah, I like the BMW crowd, and if I can get my Dad out there with his 328, all the more incentive for me to go out with him. More track time is a bonus. Otherwise I'm still considering NASA MidO event. I did want to get a time trial or two in, looks like TTB after the new pistons and rods.
My #3 sorta stopped firing today, I changed out the plug and I'm hoping to limp it along for just a couple more days 'til I drop off my car and get a rental.
RAm is close-by for me. It's only a pint of oil from my house (2 hous
) he he he.

Plans changed -- I'm going out with NASA to Road America this same weekend (April 9/10).
They have 7x30 minute sessions for HPDE's. Not bad for NASA, I guess. They're combining 1&2, 3&4&TT, and all together in some sessions.

They only combine all 4 HPDE's +TT on the last session of Friday. It's a 4 mile track, it holds a lot of cars.
Other than that, it's less combining.

Yeah, 4 miles or not, I'd hate to be even an HPDE4 driver flying out of a turn only to find a novice creeping along at track out. I guess there's a race that weekend as well, or what? Seems unnecessary to combine the groups if there's nothing else going on.

CHOOO CHOOOOO!
It looks like HPDE 2 gets stuck with HPDE 1 the whole weekend. Although I think I do remember that's how it was in the one OH-IN event I attended, thankfully I was in HPDE 3 with 4. I hate paying for track time and not being able to go, but it wasn't really an issue in NASA-VA with separate run groups. And passing anywhere with a point by rocks.
So I'm assuming OH-IN region instructors only get one student? That’s nice.

You should, umm, drive with your eyes open.
Yeah, there's a race that weekend. But you get more track time, even if it is combined. *shrug*
Hey Kevin, come out to Road America.
