Default Ticking

Hello All,

I have a 98 ITR with about 57K on the clock. Is it normal for the engines to be quite ticky?? I have just had my valve clearances done aswell (by a Honda dealer)

I think it is coming from the Injectors / Fuel rail, Will it go if i change them??

Some sound clips:

I can't hear anything abnormal... What did the dealer say about the sound?

Oh ummm perhaps its normal then, not saying there is a knocking noise or anything just sounds quite 'top endy' about 3 - 5 when driving ... then the vtec comes in and she purrrrrsss

Havent asked the dealer as I thought it would be cured by the valve clearance. I'm back down there saturday though (for other reasons) so maybe I will double check then.

Just don't know if its a waste of time buying new injectors.

Any other views welcome though.

PS: DutchITR1689 what are the konis like?? (maybe i'll do a search aswell)

They are adjustable, so you can adjust them to be stiffer or softer than stock (rebound).

I am not quite sure what you mean. But the ticking your hearing as long as its not bad when the car is warm don't worry about it. I already approached a dealership about it after my head was rebiuld and they said its fine.

Car still drives hard. Maybe some timing adjustments?

The points in the dizzy cap.

The sound clips were recorded on a warm engine.

well honestly your engine sounds fine to me. Some clicking and ticking is supposed to be there. My ticking sounds worse in my dizzy than that first clip does. I think your fine man.

If your that worried about it talk to the dealership.

Cool. Just i'm a bit of a perfectionist so i'd like to have it sounding sexy as possible!!

Haven't had the car that long.. I bought it knowing it needed clearances but that didnt really do much.

Think this is my last trial post But I will double check with honda ... see it they can get it sounding any better.

Cheers for your help guys.
