Power Steering in a 5th gen...
I did a search and didnt find anything too useful on the subject.
When I do my swap in a couple months I am debating whether or not to keep powersteering. I know an accord is not a CRX and it will be pretty hard to turn especially in parking lots, but Im wondering if I would be able to deal with it. I drove a friends CRX Si with no powersteering and I loved it.
Has anyone taken out their powersteering? (removed the belt, drained the fluid) Im looking for real experiences, not "my buddy did it and didnt like it". I just dont like the steering feel, it feels overly assisted and not connected as much as id like with the road.

I've never done any long term driving w/ out power steering. But at the track sometimes i take off my power steering belt, and it is more difficult to manuever througth the parking lot and what not, but i could still do it, the key is to make sure the car is rolling a little bit when you are turning the wheel, it makes it easier.
what about performance increases? im really thinking about taking it off. so you guys are saying if i just drain my power steering fluid , it will be the same as taking off the power steering belt?
its really easy to take the belt off. You unbolt the mounting brakets for the cruise control, loosen the adjuster on the power steering pump mount and take the belt off.
i have been driving for about 2 months now with no power steering. i dont think ill ever put it back on. i go to classes at asu and have to park in the parking lot every day. its not much harder than w/ ps. i just have to use two hands instead of one.
i also notice a small performance increase as well. a combination of no ps and a home depot intake gained me .3sec in the 1320. i know that doesnt seem like a lot, but to me it is. i am so damn close to a 15.

I didn't have P/S for a while after I did my swap. I kinda liked not having it. I got it put back on for the winter. It is nice not having p/s for the track, but for parking it can be a pain.
