Default cant pick a turbo

what i have and what i want:

95 Integra LS b18b1 auto tranny. i want at least 200+ whp (anything above is just bonus)

its my daily and i dont want to boost high because i plan on getting a different teg to boost higher.

ive been told T25, T28, T3, even T3/T4. how do i know which one? i want it small enough to spool fast enough for the auto tranny. thats what some people dont realize. is a t3/t4 too big? is a t25 too small? please someone help me on this one! its pissing me off. i have already picked out (not purchased) the rest of my kit, and its been a battle trying to pick my snail.

get a turbo with a smaller turbine a/r, like .48. that will let the turbo spool faster. search the archives about turbos, sizing and spool time, and you should be able to figure out what turbo to go with. this has been discussed before

My 14b spools up pretty quick 2000rpm and holds out to 6800rpm and from 6800-7500rpm psi drops from 8psi to 6psi (my wastegate setting is 8psi)....I like it very much...quick spool up and very good for daily car....

14b is a stock DSM turbo isnt it?

how do i know if i am buying a good one or a shitty one? whats to look for when buying a used turbo? or is there someplace that sells used (remanufactured, whatever!) turbos? and also is .48 the highest i should go? or stick as close to it as i can?

sorry for all the questions.

easiest way to reach your goal is to get a t3/t4 from a drag kit or something similar and run about 8 lbs of boost just my .02

so basically have bigger, but tune lower? i.e. smaller wastegate spring?

I've been looking for a similar setup and I've found the GT28RS would fit your needs perfectly, and when your finally ready for some more boost, you can crank it up too

would it be better to buy new or used with this particular model? and with this ... should i get a .40 or .60 wastegate? would 8psi be too much with no other mods to the motor or drivetrain?

This set up should be perfect, the GT28RS is a ball bearing turbo which accounts for its price (see below) and means that it spools 15% faster than others (according to garrett). This will help reduce lag, but still have a power up to 300whp if you tune it properly.

As you can see it is a GT model Garrett (who is IMO the best) which is their slick **** line,

Also if you are on a budget you can use the internal wastegate on the GT28RS, which i forgot to mention, but once you get some money, you can upgrade to an external WG which are much better, and then you should weld your internal WG shut. As for size? I think with your low boost it won't matter that much, but in the short run just get a cap for you manifold and use the internal until you acually see how she runs. Also the GT28RS uses the T25 flange. If you bought a manifold already make sure it is a T25 or buy a conversion plate.

If you can find a used GT28RS in good condition go for it, if you have the money talk with Garrett and I think they have some associate company who reconditions turbos.

i know most mock the auto tranny. but i am sticking with it. is there any concerns at low boost? i.e. 8psi

i am getting a tranny cooler and gauge for a little help. but short of going to level10 and getting a bullet-proof tranny, is there anything else i should do?

(just kinda drive it easy and hope to not blow transmissions left and right? then get a built tranny?)
