82mm is okay as long as your water temps are in check.

This is according to my professional engine builder friend.

I know the Tech43 kit uses 82mm pistons. I am not sure if that kit would be as rev happy as a B16, and if it does handle 10k how long it would last? I am thinking I may just use an 82mm piston w/ stock b16 stoke. Not sure if this would even give better results?Rocket, can you tell me exactly how much this would increase the displacment?

Multiplication

82x82x3.14x77.4 divided by 1000 = 1634cc
81x81x3.14x77.4 divided by 1000 = 1594cc.

40cc increase or about or 2.5% bigger.

So if you assume that the power will increase 1 for 1 with the diplacement this is worth ~ 3 - 4whp on a 150whp motor.

To run a reliable motor, I wouldn't go past 82... no real reason to unless you destroyed your stock sleeves and need to. Reliability > slight bore increase.

To be honest,

I only really like CP Pistons (For disclosure purposes I am also a WD with them) . But other pistons have worked well from what I've seen.

I like Cp pistons as well. They have very nice quality. I was thinking of using 82mm cp pistons w/ C/R of 11.7-12.1.1. We recently used 83mm cp's in a b16 (sleeved of course) and made 13 hp over 81mm with the same set up. This is the whole reason I was asking....I want to try it on my street motor. Thanks for the input.

I can have custom CP made for almost any doable config.

There are also alot of goodies that can be done to custom pistons that are not offered in their shelf line up.

82mm is safe if you do not overheat-it. do not overheat stock bores either. Never done 83mm but thinking about it.

We also have a high comp dome design that is pretty trick. Donf knows about this.

I built a motor with 82mm Topline pistons and have had no problems at all.

82mm is the max I would go on stock sleeves.

A slightly colder thermostat would be nice.
