Default JDM H22A Driveability Problems

Ok, here's the deal....This is an intermittent problem and I have gone over just about everything I can. The symptoms are that it drives fine for a period of time, and then all the sudden it looses around 50% of its power, and it will kick in and out. It almost feels like it is jumping in and out of limp mode....I know that the timing is going way retarded because I can hear/feel it....It will do this in random intervals (it can take 5 minutes, or sometimes an hour to do this)...Once it starts acting up, i'll shut the engine off, let it sitfor 15 secs, and restart it and it will be fine for another 5-60 mins....The only code I am throwing is 36 (which I was told is the 4WS code, and it has been on since the day of the swap). Everything is wired up correctly and my timing is set at 15 degrees BTDC. It will hit VTEC, but it isnt very strong, and will rev to redline...

Please help me, you have no idea how ridiculously annoying it is...

thanks

Check you valve cover gaskets around the spark plug holes I had mine leak oil past the gasket and into the plug and plug wires which caused similar problems

my motor used to do that, my plugs were really lose... It still does it once in a while and i think it might have been my main relay that I think just crapped out on me.

The JDM prelude has TC and if you have a JDM ECU also then maybe thats whats doin it. TC works by retarding the timing to creat less power. just a thought.

It does have an extra socket on the ECU that I don't use and if I remember correctly, there are 6 pins coming off of it. And the CEL doesn't come on if I stay under 50 mph...

It does it in any RPM, but will come and go..I am about ready to go check out the CYP sensor and see if that is malfunctioning, but the thing is, it's not throwing any damn codes for it..

The extra socket on the ECu is for the TC system. In the JDM Preludes with TC they have a button you can press that turns off the TC and lights a green light on the dash sayinf "TCS OFF". Maybe it would be worth looking for more info on the TC system.
